F2.SeanGP.com – The FIA Formula 2 Championship is set to come back to Europe this weekend as the series braces for the third round of the season at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. After the two opening rounds in Asia between Bahrain and Azerbaijan, PERTAMINA PREMA Theodore Racing will run in a more familiar environment at the Spanish venue. Nevertheless, despite being one of the most popular racetracks in series history, the teams will run for the first time at Barcelona with the brand-new turbocharged Dallara racecar, so it will be key to perform well from the very beginning.
Back from his first podium finish of the season at Baku Street Circuit, Dutchman Nyck De Vries is eager to build on his second place in Azerbaijan and fight for his first win of the season. On the other side of the garage, experienced Indonesian racer Sean Gelael will be equally determined to rebound after suffering from some ups and downs in the two opening rounds of the year. So far he showed great potential and managed to take a front row start in Bahrain with an all-around impressive performance.
René Rosin – Team Principal
“Barcelona is a classic venue for the series and it gave us some very good satisfactions in the past so we are delighted to come back there for round 3. On the other hand, it will be the first time with the new cars so everybody will try to get them up to speed quickly before focusing on the rest of the weekend. We are definitely looking forward to getting back where we belong after breaking through with a second place in Baku. We know we are there and we are fully determined to contend with both cars in Montmelò.”
